Built in 1910 by Charlie Thrasher, Thrasher Opera house located downtown Green Lake has always been a Hub of community. When shows were not in town, the simple building was used for meetings, school plays, proms, graduations, and even basketball games. Since its humble beginnings over 100 years ago, Thrasher Opera House was closed after the death of Charlie Thrasher, renovated in 1994, and reopened to now host hundreds of shows, even boasting well known names like Paul Thorn, Robben Ford, Chris Hillman and many many more. People of Green Lake and beyond come to thrasher to experience the joys of music, comedy, drama, and company with those they love. As a child, I myself participated in the Mazzula children's theater for a few summers, getting my first taste of the stage. I later went on to love every play and musical throughout middle and high school, and I contribute the seeds of this passion to my experiences at Thrasher. As it stands today, Thrasher Opera house operates as a non-profit and uses the generous support of its donors to provide the incredible entertainment opportunities that help to make Green Lake such an amazing place to live and Visit.
